The Utsayantha Trails were developed in the early eighties to satisfy the need for available winter sports in the Stamford area. With the extreme generosity of cooperating land owners and hard work by dedicated volunteers, the trails were made available to the public.
Since that time ski races, snowmobile events, dog sled races, equestrian events, orienteering competitions, scouting activities, and countless hours of enjoyment by local residents and visitors has occurred.
In 2006 a committee was brought together to address issues of an aging map and lack of general knowledge of the facility. By spring of 2007 it is hoped that a new map, improved signs, and publicity will again bring the awareness of the facility to visitors.
The last time I went up to Mt. U it was the perfect day.

I remember going up Mt. U in the late 80's and our families station wagon chugging up the mountain to get to the top. This brings back great memories!
